The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the worlds largest intact calderas and is located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. The area of the crater is app 265km2 with sides up to 600m deep. The crater is at present the most likely places in Tanzania  to see the endangered Black Rhino as a small population is thriving in the conserved and protected area.

There are approximately 25,000 large animals within the crater including Elephants, Zebras, Wildebeests, Warthogs, Hyenas, Giraffes, Lions to name a few. Furthermore over a 100 species of birds can be seen in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
